Get ready for the breakdown of the hottest vacuums on the market! My three favorite vacuum cleaning brands that I use in my own home are: Dyson, Shark, and Miele.
The Dyson cordless is great for if you have pets or young kids. The suction is not the best, and it cost us about 400-500 dollars. It runs for about six minutes on carpet and about twenty on hardwood flooring and is perfect for small jobs. It is bagless- which could potentially cause extra mess. Plus, as with many vacuums, you will eventually have to replace some of the parts like the battery and the beater bar.
The Shark vacuum cleaner costs about 200-300 dollars and has a rotating head. It is versatile for both carpeting and flat flooring. It has a bagless compartment which means no extra cost but may make a mess when you go to empty it. There are three different filters that will need to be cleaned to preserve the longevity of the vacuum. There’s lots of attachments and it has pretty good suction quality.
The Miele canister model also has many attachments and has the ability to set the suction (which is the best by the way). There are bags which means less mess but is an added cost. The Miele canister model is about 400 dollars. It also has hipa filters which help if someone in your household has allergies. The Miele has my overall approval, it bends and fits into all those hard to reach places and I love the retractable cord feature.
The first thing that you want to think about when purchasing a new vacuum cleaner is how much you’re willing to spend. The price range for a vacuum cleaner can vary from anywhere between $200-$1200 dollars. Keep in mind that the more money you invest, the more chance there is of a longer warranty. Another thing to factor into your budget consideration is if you are purchasing a vacuum with bags or without. If there are bags, that’s an added cost of $4-$5 dollars a bag.
2. Who is using it?
You want to think about who is going to be using the vacuum you’re thinking of buying, will you be using it or even your kids? If your kids are going to be using the vacuum cleaner often you want to make sure that you choose a brand and model that is easy for them to use. Finding features in a vacuum cleaner that will make your kids want to clean is a win in my book!
3. How often will you be using it?
Ask yourself if you plan to be vacuuming more than once a day because you have pets running around or will it be once a week for a deeper clean? Something else to keep in mind is if there is somewhere close by where you can get your vacuum serviced.
4. What kind of flooring does your home have?
You will want a different type of vacuum cleaner depending on what types of flooring you have. For example, you wouldn’t buy the same type of vacuum for a mostly high pile carpeted home versus one with almost all flat flooring.
I hope you love your new vacuum cleaner as much as I love all of mine!
